Privacy policy for Aastral

Aastral Privacy Policy (v0.0.2)

· @Joseph

About this policy

Aastral stores only what it needs to run a raid calendar inside your Root community, and it shares nothing outside that community. This policy covers Aastral version 0.0.2 and replaces the policy dated October 27, 2026 (version 0.0.1).

Aastral is a Root App: a calendar for planning raids, game releases, patches and events, with sign-ups and rosters.

Root, the platform Aastral runs on, has its own privacy policy. It covers your Root account and the data Root itself handles.

What changed in version 0.0.2

Version 0.0.2 stores a few new kinds of information and gives you more control over it.

  • Raid role. When you sign up for a raid, you pick tank, healer or DPS. Your game profile can also hold a preferred role.
  • Notes. The author of a raid or event can add notes, such as meeting time or required items. Everyone in the community can read them.
  • Personal settings. Your theme, starting view, first day of the week and animation preference are saved and linked to your Root user ID.
  • Raid details. Raids now have a duration and optional slot limits per role. These describe the raid, not you.
  • Identity. Aastral now uses your Root user ID, instead of your in-game nickname, to show which raids you joined.
  • Root name and picture. Aastral shows members' Root nickname and profile picture next to roster slots. It reads them from Root each time and does not store them.
  • More control. You can now delete a game profile yourself, and authors can edit their entries instead of deleting and recreating them.

Information we do not collect

Aastral collects nothing beyond the table above and contacts no outside service.

  • No email address, real name, phone number, postal address or location.
  • No payment information.
  • No access to your Root messages, voice channels or other community content.
  • No analytics, tracking, advertising, cookies or browser storage.
  • No outside requests: fonts and images are packaged inside the app, and the strats Codex uses sample data built into the app.
  • We never sell, rent or share your information with third parties.

If a future version connects to a live strats service, we will update this policy before releasing it.

How we use it and who sees it

We use your information only to run the calendar: showing entries, rosters, your profiles and your settings. We do not use it to profile you or show you ads.

  • Shared with your community. Entries, notes and rosters are visible to every member of the Root community where Aastral is installed. A roster slot shows your in-game nickname, class, level, build and role.
  • Private to you. Your game profiles stay private until you join a raid. Your settings are never shown to anyone else.
  • Edits and deletion. Only the author of an entry can edit or delete it.
  • Notes are public to the community. Do not write personal or sensitive information in a raid or event note.

Where it is stored and how it is protected

Your information is stored in the database Root provides to Aastral, on Root's infrastructure. Root decides where its servers are located; see Root's privacy policy for details.

  • Only Aastral's server code reads and writes this database. We access it ourselves only to maintain the app or answer a request from you.
  • The server checks every request: only an entry's author can change it, sign-ups cannot exceed the available slots, and text fields have length limits.
  • No system is perfectly secure. If you find a problem, write to us. If a breach could cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep each kind of information until you or the author remove it, or until you ask us to delete it.

Information

Kept until

Entries

The author deletes them. Deleting an entry also deletes its roster

Raid sign-ups

You leave the raid, or the author deletes the entry

Game profiles

You delete them in Réglages → Profils de jeu (Settings → Game profiles)

Settings

You ask us to delete them

Deleting a game profile does not remove sign-ups you already made. Leave those raids to remove your copy from their rosters.

Your choices and rights

You can view, change or delete most of your information yourself in Aastral.

In the app

  • Edit or delete the entries you created.
  • Leave any raid, or switch your role without leaving.
  • Edit or delete your game profiles in Réglages → Profils de jeu.
  • Change your settings at any time.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK), Quebec's Law 25 and Canada's PIPEDA give you these rights and others, such as data portability. You can also complain to your privacy authority, for example the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Aastral is not meant for children under 13 (under 14 in Quebec), and we do not knowingly collect their information. Root's own age requirements also apply. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy before Aastral stores a new kind of information or contacts an outside service. The date at the top shows the latest version, and important changes will be listed in the app's release notes.
