Privacy policy for CarMetropole
Privacy Policy
CarMetropole keeps only what the game needs to work: your Root user ID, your game progress and the things you do with other members in the game. It has no ads and no tracking, and it never sells or shares your data.
Who we are
CarMetropole is a car-collecting and drag-racing game that runs as an App inside Root communities. It is made by an independent developer and is not run by Root. This policy covers the CarMetropole App only. Root's own handling of your account is covered by the Root Privacy Policy.
What CarMetropole stores
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Root user ID, which Root provides when you open the App | To know which garage and progress are yours |
| Game progress: coins, trophy tokens, XP, level, the cars you own and their paint, wheels, decals and parts, garage jobs and their timers, your daily streak and daily tasks | To save your game between visits |
| Race records: your times, wins, best quarter-mile time and weekly cup entries, plus the launch and shift timing of each finished race | To decide race results fairly, to run the leaderboard and weekly cups, and to replay your run as a "ghost" when you challenge another member |
| Community activity: challenges you send and receive, road trips you host or join, and favours you give and receive, with who took part and when | To run challenges, road trips and favours, and to pay out their rewards |
| A log of coin, token and XP changes | To keep the in-game economy fair and to fix mistakes |
To show names on the leaderboards, in your town and on the live ticker, CarMetropole asks Root for members' display names when needed. It does not save them.
What CarMetropole does not collect
- Your email address, real name, phone number or location
- Payment details. Nothing in the game is for sale.
- Your messages. The App does not read community channels.
- Advertising or analytics data. There are no ads, trackers or third-party analytics.
Where your data lives
Each community that installs CarMetropole gets its own game server and database, hosted and backed up by Root. Your progress in one community is separate from your progress in another.
On your device, the App saves a single setting in your browser storage: whether sound is muted.
Who can see it
Other members of the same community can see your display name, level, best time and cars (with their looks) on the leaderboards and in the town list, and your garage and service bays when they visit it. They can see road trips you host and who is riding along, and the challenges between you and them, including your recorded run when they race your ghost. The live ticker shows short notes when you race, start or join a road trip, finish in a weekly cup, or do a favour. CarMetropole does not share your data with anyone else, does not sell it, and does not use it to train AI models.
How long it's kept and how to delete it
Your game data is kept while CarMetropole is installed in the community. To have your CarMetropole data deleted, send a message to the CarMetropole developer on Root, and it will be removed from that community's game database.
Children
CarMetropole follows Root's age requirements and keeps the same game data, described above, for every player.
